This fortification was made in the 13th century by an Armenian prince – Prosh. Its first name comes from the name of the prince. The bastion was made from basalt. Within the thick walls still preserves the ancient drainage system.

Unfortunately, all the internal buildings were destroyed during enemy attacks. However, just 1 kilometer from the fortress is the well-preserved Spitakavor Surb Astvatsatsin Monastery, which also deserves the tourists’ attention.

The famous legend about the treasures of Prince Prosh is connected with the Boloraberd fortress. It is believed that before the Persian invasions, the ruler decided to hide all his jewelry in the mountains near the bastion. In order to be able to find the secret place later, he left special signs on the stones. Therefore, any lucky person who is able to interpret them correctly will become the owner of huge treasure.
