Lori Berd is situated not far from the city of Stepanavan

This attraction is located near the city of Stepanavan. In the Middle Ages here was not only a bastion, which was impregnable for enemies, but a whole city. Archaeologists claim that still in the 13th century, at least 10,000 people lived in Lori Berd. Repeated attacks by the Mongols, and then the Turks and Iranians emptied the settlement. However, fortified walls and buildings of ancient baths have survived to this day. The amazing underfloor heating system of the baths has preserved up to these days. Also, archaeologists discovered on the territory of Lori Berd the princely palace, comprised of several residential buildings and the tomb of the wife of the city’s ruler - David Anohin.

Not far from the fortress is the Stepanava Arboretum. Here tourists will be able to see unique samples of Armenian plants and get acquainted with mountainous forest landscapes. From Lori berd opens a wonderful panorama.
